he Reverend Charles M. Taylors’ testimony is one that reveals what it means to be a teacher and student of universal principles. It is the manifestation of the vision God gave him to help create a loving planet by inspiring people to be themselves and honor their divine sacredness; a message he has committed his life to. His personal commitment to Christian metaphysics is anchored with the personal message of: “You Are Enough”
Reverend Taylor was installed as the Senior Minister for Universal Truth Center on January 11, 2016. The Chicago native has been a member of Universal Truth Center since its inception in 1982 when he joined forces with Universal Truth Center’s founder the Reverend Dr. Mary Tumpkin. Reverend Taylor was ordained by the Universal Foundation for Better Living Founder the Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon in 1990. His path to the pulpit is a result of his unwavering pursuit of Truth, which begun at the tender age of eight when he consciously made the decision to “seek ye first the kingdom.”
For over 25 years, Reverend Taylor served the Universal Truth Center community in numerous capacities, lending his passion for fellowship and teaching to every effort. He has served as a Board Member, a Youth Minister, Sunday school teacher, Pastoral Care Minister, Assistant Minister, Universal Foundation for Better Living Southeast Regional Director among other countless other contributions. Throughout the community, Reverend Taylor is known and loved for his patient commitment to growth.
A transformational leader, Reverend Taylor continues to inspire and add value to his audiences, nationally and internationally, teaching people how to use the New Thought ancient wisdom to transform their life, world, and affairs. He creates and leads transformational workshops, courses and lesson series that guide people to self-mastery. Reverend Taylor has counseled hundreds of couples in pre and post marital counseling, supporting them in creating a vision for their relationship – an area he is very passionate about.
Reverend Taylor profoundly believes that Universal Truth Center is a biblical leader in empowering people to live better. He is committed to God’s mission for Universal Truth Center to fulfill its purpose as a community that loves unconditionally providing people a place to heal and a space to grow.
Reverend Taylor has been described by his colleagues as a “good shepherd – who is fair, even-tempered and grounded in spiritual principles.” Another Unity minister had this to say about Reverend Taylor “he is one of the rare few colleagues in the New Thought movement who is trained to produce Biblically exegetical sermons through a metaphysical lens; as a speaker, he is humorous, entertaining, uplifting and has become a UFBL favorite.”
Reverend Taylor obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and History from Florida A&M University and coach training from Newfield and Coachville. Reverend Taylor is a certified Integrative Coach Professional from the Ford Institute, where he also serves as a mentor for aspiring coaches. Reverend Taylor is also a certified coach with ThinkTQ and an active member of Toastmasters International, where he was awarded the Distinguished Toastmaster designation.
Reverend Taylor is the author of The H.I.P. Factor and a five-time contributing writer for the Daily Inspiration, a signature publication of the Universal Foundation for Better Living. He serves as a monthly columnist for the South Florida Times prayer living page and has written numerous articles for e-newsletters and blogs.
Reverend Taylors’ partner in life and ministry is his wife Shakira. He is the father of five daughters whom he affectionately calls “Charlies Angels”
